Fisher Cats Defeat Reading

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats evened up their series with the Reading FIghtin’ Phils on Tuesday night with an 8-4 victory.

Reading got two early runs followed by a Kyle Martin solo shot in the third, but the Fisher Cats bounced back with two runs of their own in the fourth.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. grabbed his second RBI of the day off a single in the fifth to tie the game off and Reese McGuire came home on a wild pitch to give New Hampshire the lead.

The Fisher Cats added to that lead with three more runs in the seventh followed by an RBI single from Anthony Alford that brought home Jonathan Davis.

Reading was able to get one last consolation run in the ninth, but Dusty Young would escape, ensuring Sean Reid-Foley’s ninth victory of the year.

Reid-Foley pitched six innings before leaving the contest, allowing five hit and four walks while striking out five.

Tyler Viza fell to 9-10 on the year in the loss for Reading, giving up four runs off seven hits in 4 2/3 innings of work.

At the plate, every Fisher Cat except for Andrew Guillotte recorded at least one hit, with Guillotte reaching base on two walks.

New Hampshire plays Reading again at 6:35 p.m. on Wednesday night, with Conner Greene (5-10, 5.36 ERA) taking the mound for the Fisher Cats against Reading’s Elniery Garcia (2-0, 1.40 ERA)
