On Monday, New Hampshire Fisher Cats took the first game of their road series against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies by a score of 7-6.
New Hampshire struck in the second with a Derrick Loveless single that brought home Emilio Guerrero, followed by an Anthony Alford solo shot to left center an inning later.
Kevin Kaczmarski singled home a line drive to left bringing home Patrick Biondi in the third, but couldn’t erase the Fisher Cats’ lead.
That lead grew with two runs in the fifth and a Jonathan Davis home run in the sixth, but the Ponies weren’t done yet.
In the bottom of the sixth, Kaczmarski doubled home Luis Guillorme, coming home later in the inning thanks to another double, this time by Matt Oberste.
David Thompson’s three run blast later in the inning finally tied the contest, chasing New Hampshire starting pitcher Jon Harris from the contest.
There the score remained until the tenth when P.J Conlon followed an intentional walk to Gunnar Heidt with a five pitch bases loaded walk to Derrick Loveless that allowed Harold Ramirez to come home.
Daniel Young retired the Rumble Ponies in order half an inning later to seal the victory.
Young was also perfect in the ninth, finishing a night where New Hampshire’s pitchers allowed just six hits overall. Conlon was the losing pitcher, with the bases loaded walk marking his first run since August 3 against Trenton.
New Hampshire’s now 8-4 in extra inning contests this year, which includes their extra-inning win a night earlier against Altoona.
After being named the Eastern League Player of the Week, Reese McGuire ended with a platinum sombrero, leaving two runners on base in an 0-for-5 performance. However, he still reached base safely in the tenth.
Every Fisher Cat did. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Heidt were also hitless, but Gurriel reached on an error in the fifth and Heidt recorded three walks, with five of the other six Fisher Cat batters recording two hits each.
New Hampshire meets Binghamton again tomorrow at NYSEG Stadium for a 6:35 p.m. showdown. Thomas Pannone (7-2, 3.03 ERA) takes the mound against Binghamton’s Casey Delgado (10-5, 4.71 ERA)
