Monday’s postponement could only slow down the growth of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ winning streak. That streak rose to three games after their 5-2 victory against Portland in the first game of Tuesday’s doubleheader.

New Hampshire struck first with a two-run homer from Emilio Guerrero, but the Sea Dogs answered as designated hitter Nick Longhi provided his own shot over the right center field fence to bring Portland back within a run.

However, the Fisher Cats tacked three runs on the board in the fifth, sparked by a leadoff single from newcomer Andrew Guillotte.

Guillotte went 3-for-3 in his first game as a Fisher Cat, coming from Dunedin through a two-game stint at Triple-A Buffalo earlier this week.

New Hampshire also received RBIs from Tim Lopes, Ryan McBroom and Derrick Loveless.

Longhi had two hits for Portland, the only Sea Dog with more than one hit in the seven-inning contest. He was also the only Sea Dog with an RBI in the game, with Joseph Monge coming across the plate in the seventh thanks to a wild pitch from Dusty Isaacs.

Jon Harris (2-4) got the win for New Hampshire, scattering seven hits over six innings, striking out three and walking one Portland batter.

Travis Lakins (0-2) earned credit for the loss, leaving after only one out in the fourth. He was on the hook for all of New Hampshire’s runs and allowed seven hits and two walks, striking out two.
