MANCHESTER, NH — City fire crews responded to several water problem and motor vehicle accident calls on Thursday due to the heavy rain, ponding and snow melt on roads.

An accident at Pine Island Plaza sent one person to the hospital with minor injuries, after a man driving a truck lost control and careened through a crowded parking lot striking two cars before crashing through a convenience store front, causing several thousands of dollars in damage.

Firefighters pumped out several basements throughout the city due to heavy rains and other issues caused by frozen ground.

Sand bags were also filled and deployed in an effort to divert water away from houses involved.
