Fire officials work to contain ‘significant oil leak’ seeping into Merrimack River

MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester Fire Department officials are investigating the source of a significant oil leak coming from a culvert in the area of Commercial Street north of the Granite Street bridge.

The oil leak was first reported just after noon on Oct. 29 by a citizen who had concerns about the oil flowing from a culvert. Fire Crews from Central Station deployed two boats and used absorbent booms and pads to contain the oil

NH Department of Environmental Services was called to the scene to assist in containing the discharge and identify the source of the oil.
