MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester Fire Department dispatch received an automatic fire alarm for Hillview Apartments, 195 Eastern Ave., just before 11 a.m. on Sept. 25.

Firefighters encountered water and smoke in a third-floor apartment, upon arrival. Further investigation revealed a small fire near the stove top that the sprinkler system partially extinguished. Firefighters extinguished the remainder of the fire then provided assistance to the occupants of the apartments on the 1st and 2nd floors that were being effected by the water draining down into their apartments an onto their possessions.

Extensive salvage operations were carried out to save their belongings.

The 30-unit apartment had to be evacuated. Medical assistance was provided to a tenant during the operation.

No injuries were reported. District Chief Michael Gamache estimated the damage at about $10,000.
