Are you ready for a Facebook-based dating app?

The social media founder Mark Zuckerberg thinks it’s just what the “200 million people on Facebook who list themselves as single,” need.

Zuckerberg made the announcement Tuesday during the annual F8 developers summit in San Jose, CA.

No word on what the service would be called, or when it’s coming, other than “soon,” but the opt-in service will be accessible from a user’s profile by clicking on a heart icon to get to your “dating home.” Details of your dating profile will be private and not visible to your Facebook friends, connecting you with people who are not already in your circle.

According to Facebook:

“We’re building a feature for dating and relationships within the Facebook app. People already use Facebook to meet new people, and we want to make that experience better. People will be able to create a dating profile that is separate from their Facebook profile — and potential matches will be recommended based on dating preferences, things in common and mutual friends. They’ll have the option to discover others with similar interests through their Groups or Events. However, what people do within the dating feature will not shown to their friends. We’ll share more information when this begins testing later this year.”
