MANCHESTER, N.H. – The New Hampshire Fisher Cats earned their first win of the 2019 season on Friday night, defeating the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, 5-4 in 11 innings.

New Hampshire hurler Hector Perez could not escape the third, allowing a pair of runs that the hosts would have to recoup in the bottom half of the inning.

A wild pitch allowed Brandon Grudzielanek to come across the plate for the Fisher Cats in the seventh, but the score was deadlocked once again thanks after Binghamton’s Sam Haggerty reached home on a ground out.

The Ponies forced a response in the top of the 11th as Will Toffey scored off a Michael Paez single, but the Fisher Cats were certainly ready to respond. First, Forrest Wall brought Brock Lundquist home to even things up once again and Kevin Smith’s line drive brought Wall around to let the Cats walk off with the victory.

Kirby Snead earned the win for New Hampshire, retiring the side in the 11th, with Adonis Uceta getting the loss.

The Fisher Cats and Rumble Ponies will play again on Saturday at 6:35 p.m.
