MANCHESTER, N.H. – Patrick O’Brien, a 51-year-old man from Exeter, has been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old in Manchester.

The warrant for O’Brien’s arrest was served on Monday after an extensive investigation led by Manchester Police Department Detective Michael Valenti that began in late September when someone who knew the 13-year-old contacted police.

After the investigation, Valenti and other officers determined that O’Brien was using a dating app to communicate with the teenager and exchange sexually explicit images, also paying money for sexual services.

O’Brien has been charged with four counts of alleged manufacturing child abuse images, four counts of possession of child sex images, four counts of dissemination of child sex abuse images, two counts in trafficking in persons, two counts of felonious sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and alleged prohibited use of computers.

He was held on preventative detention and will be arraigned in Hillsborough Superior Court on Oct. 15, 2019.

Anyone accused of a crime is innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
