Erratic Mercedes driver hits several cars, smashes into SUV on 293

NHSP ACC 293 North Exit 2-6399MANCHESTER, NH – Two people were injured after the driver of a silver Mercedes Benz crashed into an SUV on I-293 Thursday.

State Police received several calls just before 2 p.m. reporting the Mercedes was driving erratically at high-speeds on 93 northbound, clipping other vehicles as the car passed.

At 1:50 p.m. a report of a multi-vehicle crash between Exits 1 and 2 in Manchester on 293 north came in.

Witness statements and roadway evidence determined that the operator of the Mercedes, identified as Paul R. Hannan, 51 of Derry, was traveling at an excessive speed northbound on Interstate 93 and then Interstate 293 in Manchester, and struck a white SUV from the rear causing the SUV to flip and come to rest on its driver’s side in the center lane.  The Mercedes came to a stop in the high speed lane against the guard rail.

The driver of the SUV and two small children were transported to the Elliot Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Hannan was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and conduct after an accident.
