Erie defeats New Hampshire on Sunday

ERIE, Penn. –  The New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ western road trip has concluded with a 3-2 loss to the Erie SeaWolves on Sunday afternoon.

New Hampshire actually outhit the SeaWolves, but went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position. The Fisher Cats’ only runs came from a one-run homer in the second from Nash Knight and an RBI triple by Josh Palacios that scored Andres Sotillo.

Erie’s runs came from a two-run Josh Lester home run in the fourth and a Derek Hill RBI single in the fifth that scored Sergio Alcantara.

Palacios, Sotillo and Chad Spanberger each had two hits for New Hampshire.

Nate Pearson dropped to 0-4, giving up all of Erie’s runs and hits after five innings pitched.

Joey Wentz was the winner, also pitching five innings to climb to 1-0 in Eastern League play.

Drew Carlton retired the Fisher Cats in the ninth to earn his 14th save of the year for Erie.

The Fisher Cats return to New Hampshire on Tuesday to start a three-game set with the Akron Rubber Ducks.
