Elliot names Martha Leighton as Senior VP and Chief Nursing Officer

MANCHESTER NH: Martha Leighton, MS RN, has been appointed to the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer.

Leighton has been a part of the Elliot family for more than 22 years, serving in a variety of roles including staff nurse, educator, Perinatal Safety Nurse, Clinical Nurse Leader, and from 2013 to 2016, she served as the Patient Safety Officer. For the past year, she has joined the senior leadership team as Interim Chief Nursing Officer.

After obtaining her Master’s in Nursing degree from the University of New Hampshire, she worked as a clinical assistant professor at UNH teaching nursing to BSN and Master’s nursing students. From 2011 to 2013, she served as faculty for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s perinatal community.  Martha is a Certified Professional in Patient Safety, a certified Just Culture Champion as well as a Master Trainer in TeamSTEPPS.

Leighton’s current involvement in external healthcare leadership positions includes At-Large Member of the Executive Committee of the New Hampshire Health Care Quality Assurance Commission and the Maternal Mortality Review Board for the State of New Hampshire.
