BEDFORD, NH – Elliot Health System announced construction of a 58,000-square-foot medical center at 24 Leavy Drive Bedford with a ceremonial ground-breaking on Dec. 15. The new building, expected to open in January 2018, will allow for expanded services and access to primary care doctors, specialists, and ancillary services.

“This facility is necessary to our growth model and to better serve the greater Bedford community as we uphold our mission, to ‘Inspire Wellness, Heal our Patients, and Serve with Compassion in Every Interaction’,” said Jim Hood, Chair, Elliot Board of Directors.

Chief Medical Officer Greg Baxter, MD, said the expansion allows Elliot Health System answer the public’s call for better access to primary care doctors.

In addition, we will provide lab, imaging, pharmacy and specialists in this location to complement the care being given in both the family medicine and pediatric offices that will be located here,” Baxter said.

Elliot currently has two family medicine offices and one pediatric office in Bedford. The two family medicine offices will be combined in the new facility and the pediatric office will also be relocated in the new center. Services such as lab, mammography, X-ray, done density screening, and pharmacy will also be included for better patient care. Finally, plans are still being made to determine the right specialist services to support the needs of the Bedford community.

“I have been anticipating this day for quite some time and I am very happy, more so for our patients than for us as providers, to know they will be receiving care in a state-of-the-art facility, with medical services we have never before been able to offer in one location and under one roof,” said Elliot Pediatrician Mark Myers, MD. “How nice it will be to know if I order a prescription for a child, that the parent can pick it up on their way out the door,” Myers said.
