MANCHESTER, NH – New Hampshire’s Currier Museum of Art is launching a new program to lead a conversation about arts and culture and their role in our country.  Candidates and Culture is an initiative designed to elevate the discussion about culture in our political dialogue.  As part of this program, the Currier will be offering special discounted rates to political candidates from all parties to host events at our beautiful venue.

The goal is that by using the museum as the backdrop, candidates will have the opportunity to share their political views and will elevate the discussion about the importance of arts and culture in our political dialogue.  The Currier launched Candidates and Culture recently hosting Mayor Pete Buttigieg, an event which drew a crowd of over five hundred attendees.  The Currier looks forward to working with all of the campaigns to hold future events.

The Currier Museum is committed to providing programs to help and inspire the local community.  Last year the museum launched a first-of-its-kind program to provide comfort and mentoring to families impacted by the opioid crisis called The Art of Hope.  The Currier also offers  similar programs to reach different demographics, including Alzheimer’s Café, for people with Alzheimer’s or dementia and their caregivers, can engage in social and art-making activities, and Making Art Accessible, a multimedia studio art class for teens and adults with cognitive challenges.

The impact of these programs, all of which are offered for free, improve the quality of life for those who participate.   In general, the broader impact of arts and culture on both the local and regional economies is widespread by generating jobs, revenue, and promoting an environment that drives community growth and vitality.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone to join a discussion about the role of culture in our nation – from its economic power to the ways it inspires creativity in our lives. At these events, people will have the opportunity to learn more about the candidates from all parties, and enjoy the beauty of the museum,” stated Alan Chong, Director of the Currier.
