Electrical fire on Silver Street displaces two families

The fire remains under investigation.

MANCHESTER, NH – Just before 2 p.m. on June 10 fire crews responded to 620 Silver St. for a fire in the bathroom of a second-floor apartment.

First arriving units from the Somerville Street fire station arrived within three minutes and reported fire visible from the second floor. Crews ]nitiated an aggressive attack of the fire from the interior of the building preventing further damage to the structure.

No occupants or firefighters were injured and the Red Cross is assisting two displaced families – four adults and one child – with temporary housing arrangements.

The fire was not suspicious and remains under investigation, but following initial investigation is believed to be electrical in nature.

Damage is estimated at about $15,000.
