MANCHESTER, NH – It came right down to the final ward, but voters returned Mayor Ted Gatsas to office by a slim margin. Just 75 votes separated Gatsas from Craig based on the unofficial tally — 10,022 to 9,947.

“I am humbled by the support I have received from the voters today and truly honored to serve as your Mayor for another two years,” said Gatsas, shortly after the final count was announced.

“I want to thank Joyce Craig for joining me in energizing the voters of Manchester to come out today and vote,” Gatsas said.

Craig released the following statement Wednesday morning:

“I am incredibly proud of our honest and positive campaign for Mayor of Manchester. The results are very close and I believe that all the voters who put their faith in me today deserve to have their votes counted. In the coming days, I will talk with my family and supporters about next steps.”

Well, here’s to 2 more years of duct-taped school books and telling my soccer players to avoid dirty needles on the fields. I guess rising crime, failing schools, drug overdoses, under funded police departments, crumbling infrastructure, and complete incompetence in city hall is fine as long as we save $50/yr on property taxes.

I spoke with a teacher last night who couldn’t even get paper to give her kids a quiz. Why would any kind of business move into Manchester where their employees can’t even give their children a good education? Mayor Gatsas used his lies and scare tactics to win this election. I got at least two mailings every day and the topper was the airplane flying from ward to ward. He sure has the big bucks. Manchester again will get what it deserves.
