Edmund ‘Mickey’ Finn, 83: Retired Manchester Police officer, Korean War veteran

MANCHESTER, NH – Edmund M. “Mickey” Finn, 83, of Manchester, died peacefully on February 16, 2017 at Merrimack Community Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.

Screen Shot 2015 01 17 at 12.44.27 PMBorn in Lawrence, Mass., on June 12, 1933, he was the son of Raymond and Louise (Munn) Finn. He was a graduate of Johnson High School, N. Andover, Mass. After high school, Mickey joined the US Navy, served in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1955. He then served as a police officer with the K-9 Corp. in Washington.

Mickey protected the Queen City as a Manchester Police Officer for 26 years, retiring in 1990, which he said, “Boy I had a hell of a good time working on MPD.” He was a retired member of the Manchester Police Officers Association, a lifetime member of NH State Police Officers Association, and a member of Ancient Order of Hibernians. He enjoyed model railroading with the Bedford Boomers and was an avid Patriots fan.

Mickey will be remembered as a loving husband, brother and uncle, as well as a great friend and colleague.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean M. (Hersey) Finn in 2015.

Family includes five sisters, Louise “Billie” Ritcher of North Andover, Mass; Jacqueline “Jackie” Lamprey of North Andover;  Florence Lyon of Newburyport, Mass., Muriel Cournoyer of NC; and Margaret “Peggy” Finn of North Andover; one brother, James Finn and wife Annie of Goffstown; and many nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in the chapel at St. Joseph Church, 145 Lowell St., Manchester. Committal prayers with military honors will follow in NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 DW Highway, Boscawen. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Friends of Manchester Animal Shelter, 490 Dunbarton Rd., Manchester, NH 03102.
