MANCHESTER, NH — Join Vivian Beer, winner of “Ellen’s Design Challenge Season 2” on April 16 and 17 for Random Act’s Endure4Kindness, Manchester’s contribution to this 24-hour global event in which participants choose an activity, and raise money for the non-profit from their local communities.

Vivian Beer and her team will have 24 hours to create as many bike racks as they can, with the crazy goal of 20, which she then plans on donating to the City of Manchester.

“We’re lucky to have such a talented artist working right here in our downtown,” said Sara Beaudry, Executive Director of Intown Manchester. “These bike racks will add color, vibrancy, and encourage bikers to experience everything downtown has to offer.

“Endurance for me is all about hard work in the studio. So when I decided to do the Random Acts/Endure for Kindness fundraiser this year I thought, ‘what can we make in 24 hours?’ As someone who loves a design challenge I went about designing something I thought the city might need – BIKE RACKS! It’s going to be a hustle to make that many! We’ll see if we can pull it off!” said Beer.

“Working with both Vivian and Intown is a great partnership for our community. We want to see a healthy and creative Manchester. Everyone can ride a bike, and tying that literally to an art bike rack is a perfect fit with our mission,” Daniel Bérubé, of the North of Webster neighborhood group said, which is working with the city to promote safe, walkable neighborhoods.

The bike racks will be finished at the end of the 24-hour period on April 17. The City of Manchester plans to install them throughout the rest of May.

“The City of Manchester’s Department of Public Works is honored to be part of this project.  We are proud to be partnering with Vivian in this great cause  and excited to be promoting Manchester’s biking initiative at the same time,” Don Pinard, Chief of Parks and Recreation said.

The materials are being donated by North of Webster Community Group and InTown Manchester will be teaming with the city to make sure the racks get to the places they are needed most! TEAM BEER will consist of Vivian and her whole family pitching in at the studio.
