Duplex fire on Merrow Street causes $125K in damage

MANCHESTER, NH — An early-morning fire left significant damage to a duplex on Merrow Street Sunday.

At about 3:44 a.m. fire crews were dispatched to 32 Merrow St. where they encountered heavy fire on two sides of the duplex. Engine 5 made the initial attack, with other crews assisting. A structural firewall separating the units limited damage to the east side of the building. This unit was unoccupied at the time of the incident.

Residents on the west side of the structure self-evacuated.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage is estimated at $125,000.
