MANCHESTER, NH — Cell phone use while driving led to the arrest of Joshua Martineau, 29, of Manchester, who ran from an officer after he was pulled over while driving near South Willow Street.

Police say Officer Warren Olson of the Manchester Police Traffic Unit was conducting traffic enforcement on Beech Street, near Shasta Street, on Jan. 27 when he observed a white Honda Civic proceed pass him heading south. Officer Olson noticed the driver, Martineau, was talking on his cell phone while driving, so he activated his emergency lights and initiated a motor vehicle stop.

Martineau pulled over in the parking lot of Holy Smokes, 297 South Willow St., got out of his vehicle and then fled the scene on foot, running north on South Willow Street. Several additional officers responded and set-up a perimeter for a police dog search. Officer Benjamin Foster and his K-9 partner Moose located Martineau a short time later near Families in Transition, 161 South Beech Street.

Martineau was charged with resisting arrest; disobeying a police officer; and operating after suspension/revocation.
