MANCHESTER, NH — A city woman died Tuesday  in an early morning crash on Lake Avenue in a Jeep that had just been reported as stolen.

Manchester Police officers responded to a crash at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Lake Avenue and Hall Street. The operator of a stolen 1999 Jeep Cherokee crashed into the front of 434 Lake Avenue, which may have caused the vehicle to roll over. The inverted vehicle landed west of the address after striking and damaging the building’s fire panel.

Manchester Fire Department personnel  worked to pull the unresponsive women from the wreck before AMR Ambulance transported her to the Elliot Hospital.

Officer Amanda Smith responded to 30 Dubuque Street for a stolen vehicle report approximately 20 minutes before the crash occurred. Officer Smith was clearing the Dubuque Street address when the Lake Avenue crash was dispatched on the radio. She responded to the scene and confirmed the Jeep matched the stolen vehicle information she gathered from the vehicle’s owner.

The woman who died was identified by police as Shana Martin, 34, of Manchester.
