BEDFORD, NH – On Feb. 27 at approximately 4:30 a.m. Troopers from the Troop B barracks in Bedford
responded to a crash involving a Tractor Trailer and a passenger vehicle. The crash occurred on 101
Eastbound at the ramp for the Everett Turnpike South.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the SUV driven by 57 year old Claudia Dery of Peterborough,
made an unsafe lane change and caused the crash with the tractor-trailer. The driver of the TT Unit, D Bruce Van Veelen, 57, of Hudson, sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to the hospital to be treated. The tractor-trailer ruptured one of its saddle fuel tanks in the crash, causing a fuel spill that had to be cleaned up.

Due to the fuel spill and the injuries sustained, Troopers from Troop G responded to the crash to investigate
the commercial motor vehicle aspect. Bedford Fire and the Department of Environmental Services also
assisted with the crash and clean up. All lanes remained open throughout the incident and the cleanup took  several hours.

Operator Dery was cited for an unsafe lane change.

Anyone with any information about this crash may contact Trooper Doug Bailey Jr. at Troop B in Bedford
