MANCHESTER, NH – Doug Dean, retired Elliot Health System President and CEO is returning to the helm as interim CEO, to provide continuity and assist in the transition as the national search for a permanent chief executive continues. The announcement was made Tuesday by the Board of Directors.
“Elliot continues in the process of conducting a national search for Elliot Health System’s next long-term President & CEO. However, while that search is underway, the Board recognizes its continuing fiduciary duty to the health system and the community to ensure that the Elliot has all of the tools necessary to continue its mission,” said Jim Hood, Chairman of the Elliot Health System Board of Directors. “We want to be deliberate in our process and take the time necessary to make the best decision possible.”
Added Hood, “During this critical period, the Board of Directors is proud to announce and welcome back Doug Dean as Chief Executive Officer.”
Dean retired from Elliot Health System as President & CEO in June of 2014. During his retirement, he has worked as a consultant to the Elliot’s Board of Directors.
“Doug has graciously agreed to come out of retirement for a period of time to assume the official role of Chief Executive Officer. He will assist us with strategies to continue Elliot’s growth, build relationships with respected healthcare leaders, and support the management team,” Hood said. “We feel strongly that Doug’s previous long term service to Elliot, his intimate knowledge of the community, as well as his relationships with leaders throughout the state will be an asset to us during this time.”
Said Dean, “I’ve been with Elliot for over 19 years and I love it and have a deep respect for the doctors and staff. That’s what draws me out of retirement,” said Doug Dean, Chief Executive Officer. “I look forward to re-engaging with people I have a profound respect for.”
