MANCHESTER, NH – Police are looking for two robbers who forced their way into a third-floor Manchester Street apartment and shot and killed the resident’s dog before fleeing.

Police say they believe the assailants targeted the man, 37, and his dog.

At about 1:20 a.m. on July 10 police arrived at 371 Manchester St. for a reported home invasion. The victim told police two men who he did not know forced their way into his apartment demanding cash. One of the men was allegedly armed with a handgun.

The victim said his dog entered the room where the two intruders stood and the robber with the gun fired two shots at the dog before fleeing on foot.

The intruders were Hispanic, the victim said. One of the men was about 5-foot-8 and 200 pounds, wearing all black. The second robber was about 5-foot-6, about 160 pounds, and was wearing a gray jacket or hooded sweatshirt

Detectives responded to the crime scene shortly after the incident occurred. They processed the scene and are actively investigating the home invasion. It is unknown if the victim knew his assailants, but it appears the assailants knew the victim. This does not appear to be a random act of violence and the case remains active, police said.
