NASHUA, NH — A two-alarm fire in Nashua required a heroic rescue by firefighters of the family dog, resuscitated by paramedics at the scene.
At approximately 12:27 p.m. fire crews were dispatched to 16 Hyacinth Dr. after the homeowner called to report a garage fire.
Crews arrived to find heavy fire coming from the attached garage. Several water lines were stretched throughout the house to extinguish the fire, which extended into the residence, and a search of the home turned up Rocky, the family’s dog, which was rescued from the house by firefighters. The dog — wearing a Patriots bandanna — was revived with oxygen and was walking around a short time later. He was taken to the vet to be checked out.

Due to the fire load within the basement and heavy fire conditions extending into the residence, a second alarm was transmitted bringing additional apparatus and manpower to the scene.  The fire was eventually brought under control, and companies remained on scene conducting overhaul and salvage work for an extended period of time.

The cold weather quickly created icy conditions for firefighters operating on scene.

One occupant was transported to the hospital for evaluation (non-life threatening), and later released.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
