MANCHESTER, NH – Jon DiPietro officially filed his candidacy July 19 for Board of School Committee in Manchester’s Ward 6 . DiPietro was joined by his wife, Laurie, and daughter, Jenna, as well as State Representative Victoria Sullivan. The Ward 6 seat is currently held by Dan Bergeron.

DiPietro’s campaign statement follows:

Jon DiPietro is a New Hampshire native and 25-year resident of Manchester, where his four daughters spent the equivalent of 30 school years in its public schools. He has spent 20 years as a small business owner. His campaign will focus on right-sizing the school district, holding administrators accountable, making tough decisions, and reducing the amount of time teachers and students spend on assessments.

“I decided to run because we need to stop the can-kicking, navel-gazing, and fear mongering,” DiPietro said.

“The school district is facing many challenges that directly affect the parents, students, and taxpayers of Ward 6, all of which I have seen up close with my children. I believe we can meet these challenges with resolve, perspective, and rationality. Too many decisions are made based on theory and conjecture without solid evidence that they will work. Educators and bureaucrats will always have another year to get it right but your child only gets one chance at first grade.”
