UPDATE: 12 p.m. Manchester Police responded to the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 101 South Commercial St., at approximately 9:20 a.m. on Oct. 4 after an employee noticed the word “bomb” written on the southeast stairwell.

The employees and 49 guests were temporarily evacuated after an unknown person(s) activated the hotel’s fire alarm. One of the employees noticed the graffiti, which was written in pencil, as soon as the fire department cleared the initial fire alarm and allowed them back inside.

Manchester Police Sgt. Robert Keating responded and cleared the building for a second time so Officer Robert Megowen and his K-9 partner Lynk could clear the hotel of any potential threat. New Hampshire State Police also assisted in the incident. All guests and employees were allowed back inside the building once the threat was deemed non-credible.
