Detectors alert family to wood stove fire on Blucher Street

MANCHESTER, NH — The following report was issued by Manchester Fire Department District Chief Hank Martineau following an early-morning fire on Blucher Street.


Date: Nov. 17, 2018

Address: 215 Blucher St..

Time11:57 p.m. Under Control: 12:20 a.m. All Out: 1:50 a.m.

Number/Type Apparatus: 4 engines, 2 Trucks, 1 Rescue, 1 District Chief, 1 ALS

Number of Alarms: 1

Incident Summary: Companies arrived to  a 1½-story wood frame home on Blucher Street to find a fire in a partition behind a wood stove. The wall was opened up and they discovered that the fire had burned a hole through the floor into the basement. The occupants were alerted by smoke detectors and tried extinguishing the fire with fire extinguishers prior to fire department arrival. Fire Department personnel extinguished any remaining fire and performed overhaul to insure that the fire did not spread to other areas.
