MANCHESTER, N.H. – A Derry man has been arrested after driving and pointing a handgun at another motorist on a road rage incident on Tuesday.

The man, 27-year-old Cory Faria, allegedly was tailgating another car northbound on I-293. The other motorist tried to switch lanes several times, but according to police, Faria kept on switching lanes with the victim, with both vehicles getting off at Exit 4.

At this point, both vehicles were side-by-side and the victim was yelling at Faria in regard to why he was driving this way. Faria responded by grabbing his weapon and pointing it at the victim.

The light then turned green and the victim turned right onto Second Street toward the Queen City Bridge intersection. Faria did as well, despite being in the wrong lane to turn right. At this point, the victim told Faria that he was going to call the police.

Faria jumped out of his car and ran, eventually being found nearby in the Burger King parking lot.

Faria was arrested and charged with alleged criminal threatening.

He was released on personal recognizance bail, which drew criticism from Manchester Police Department Chief Carlo Capano.

“This is a man suspected of pointing a loaded gun at someone on a busy city road,” he said. “If that’s not a danger to the public, then I don’t know what is.”

Anyone accused of a crime Is innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
