DUBOIS, PA. – The No. 4 NHTI Lynx were eliminated from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association’s Small College Softball World Series Wednesday afternoon falling 11-0 to No. 3 Carlow University in the second game of the day. NHTI was on the brink of elimination earlier in the day but scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat No. 7 Mississippi University for Women, 3-2.

In game one the Lynx only mustered two hits headed into the seventh inning down, 2-0. NHTI gained a pair of baserunners after a fly out to put the tying run on. With two outs shortstop, Briana Connolly (Allenstown, N.H.) stroked a double over the left fielder’s head to drive in a pair to even the game. Two batters later Brianna Whitcomb (Epson, N.H.) found the grass in center field for a double and the game winning RBI.

Pitcher Tori Lemay (Manchester, NH.) walked the first batter in the bottom of the seventh before retiring the side in order for the win. Lemay picked up her second win in the tournament giving up five hits and striking out six.

In game two the Lynx managed only three hits over five innings. Carlow scored three quick runs in the first and six in the third to put the game out of reach early and knock NHTI out of the tournament.

The Lynx finished the season 29-7 overall and 8-0 in Yankee Small Conference Play. NHTI rode a 23 game winning streak into the tournament and finished in fourth place.
