DUBOIS, Pa. – The No. 4 NHTI Lynx could not hold off top-seeded Cleary University, falling 5-4 in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association’s Small College Softball World Series Tuesday afternoon.

Tori Lemay (Manchester) struggled to find an out in the bottom of the seventh walking a pair and giving up two singles. Unfortunately, both the tying run and winning run came off of passed balls. The first came when Lemay was trying to work out of a bases-loaded situation against Cleary’s Kaitlin Dormire, who already hit a pair of home runs earlier, one in the fourth inning and one in the sixth. Lemay finished pitching 6.1 innings giving up 11 hits while striking out seven and walking a pair.

For the second day in a row, the Lynx battled back from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead with a big fifth inning. Kabrina Roy (Merrimack) started the inning off with a triple to right field. After a Lemay single, Masha Lange (Plaistow) continued her hot streak at the plate with a triple to drive in Roy and Gina Costello (Deering) who pinch ran for Lemay. Danyel McNicholas (Raymond) added another run driving in Lange on a single to center field.

Taylor Gagnon (Goffstown) would tack on the fourth run in the sixth scoring on a passed ball.

The Lynx now head to the loser’s bracket in the double-elimination tournament and will play at noon on Wednesday vs. #7 seeded Mississippi University for Women. If they win at noon, the Lynx will play again at 4 p.m. and possibly again at 6 p.m.
