Crowdsourcing the Super Bowl: Where should I watch in the Queen City?

MANCHESTER, NH – In less than 24 hours I want to be where the action is, watching the Super Bowl on a luscious HD screen. I want to be surrounded by fellow Patriots fans who will cheer with every first down and groan over every marginal penalty. I want to see the whites of Justin Spencer’s eyes when Recycled Percussion kicks things up a notch, ManchVegas style.

Home is not an option, since we’ve cut the cable cord – although there are certainly ways to livestream the game if you know your way around the Internet.

But the point is that we are a city of food options. Sports bars abound. Downtown should be the place to be, if we’re really about building community, right?

Problem I’ve found is that, unless you tediously flip from Facebook page to Facebook page, it’s hard to figure out who has the best deal going, and where the ideal atmosphere for watching the Super Bowl will be. And even then, details are sorely lacking. I had to call one place after getting the vague sense that there were deals to be had, and sure enough – there are, but you wouldn’t know it from their Facebook posts.

And frankly, it’s not just about the deals.

It has to be someplace you can actually get a good seat in clear view of a screen. And the food has to be delicious – not just cheap eats. Also, you have to be able to get a cold beer on draft that’s more satisfying than a water-logged domestic draft, but cheaper than a Big Mac meal deal.

So far I’ve checked out some of my favorite go-to game day spots around the city, all of which advertise Super Bowl enticements – Billy’s Sports Bar, Stark Brewing Company, Thirsty Moose Taphouse, Murphy’s, The Pint Publik House – and even some places I haven’t been yet, including 1 Oak on Elm, which expects to direct the Super Bowl crowd to the downstairs Dugout. They got my attention with a giphy poster that plays “Welcome to the Jungle” when you hit the play button.

Nice touch.

Anyway, before I flip a coin, I thought I’d put it out there to the masses:

For those of you not watching at home, where will you be at kick-off time? If you own a local eatery, tell me why I should spend Super Bowl Sunday with you?

Maybe I’ll join you.
