CONCORD, NH – A Concord man was killed late Monday night following a two-car crash near the Interstate 89 exit ramp.

On April 30, 2018, at approximately 9:21 p.m., Bow Police Department was notified of the crash on Logging Hill Road, in the area of the Interstate 89 Exit 1 southbound off ramp. Officers located a two-vehicle collision. At the time officers noted that one of the drivers appeared to be deceased and another was injured. The deceased driver was later identified as Tyler Shaw, 20, of Concord.

The other operator was identified as Joseph Leonard Jr., 35, of Derry. Leonard was transported to Concord Hospital to be treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries. Due to the severity of the crash, Bow Police requested the assistance of the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit.

Initial investigation revealed that the 2017 Nissan Altima, operated by Leonard, was traveling southbound on Interstate 89 and had exited at Exit 1. It appears the Leonard failed to stop at the end of the Exit 1 off ramp and then collided with the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado that Shaw was driving. The collision resulted in the Chevrolet Silverado rolling onto its driver’s side as the operator was partially ejected from the vehicle. Both vehicles subsequently came to rest off of the roadway.

At this time all aspects of the collision are still under investigation, including speed, distraction, and/or impairment. As a result of the collision, Logging Hill Road was closed for several hours as the investigation was conducted. The New Hampshire State Police were assisted on scene by the Bow Police Department, Bow Fire and Rescue Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
