MANCHESTER, NHManchester Police Commissioners welcomed Dan Reidy in February as its newest commissioner, replacing Mark Roy, who retired from the board in November of 2016, after selling his home in Manchester.

The police commission provides citizen input and oversight for the Manchester Police Department. Reidy, a Manchester native, recently moved back to his childhood home on the West Side, and says he felt compelled to apply for the open position, as he gets reacquainted with the city from a new perspective.

¨I’ve not thought of serving in such capacity in the past. But knowing the chief since his early days as a bike patrol officer in the center city, and having also been in the same Chamber of Commerce Leadership class as Deputy Chief Capano, as well as having extended family members in law enforcement, I hold the duties of police in the highest regard,”says Reidy.

Reidy has spent the past 20 years working for University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension, currently as County Relations Manager.

Joining Reidy on the five-member board are Chairman Scott Spradling, Eva Castillo, Steve Spain and Charlie Sherman. The commission meets the first Wednesday of each month at Manchester NH Police Headquarters on Valley Street at 9 a.m. The meetings are open to the public. The next scheduled meeting is May 3. Editor’s note: The story has been corrected to reflect that Reidy is replacing Mark Roy as commissioner.
