MANCHESTER, NH — Police are looking for a man who was chased from a convenience store by a clerk with a big stick, after the would-be robber claimed to be armed and threatened the clerk with violence for not handing over cash from the register.

Officer Amanda Smith was dispatched to Afshin Convenience Store, 570 Elm St., at about 7:50 p.m. Nov. 12 for an attempted robbery call. Upon arrival, Officer Smith met with clerk Sasi Patibandla, 27, of Manchester, who said the incident began when a man  came to the check-out counter with several items, and then demanded cash.

The would-be robber claimed to be armed and threatened the clerk, demanding he empty the cash register. Undaunted by the threat, Patibandla opted instead to grab a wooden stick and chase the man from the store, empty-handed. He fled on foot in an unknown direction, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male, 55-60 years of age, unknown height and weight. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a white logo on the right chest, blue jeans and sneakers.

If you recognize this man please contact Manchester Police Detectives at 603-668-8711 or Manchester Crimeline at 603-624-4040. You may be eligible for a cash reward if your tip leads to the identification and apprehension of the responsible party.
