MANCHESTER, NH – On Thursday May 2, 2019 Officer Michael Buckley was on patrol when he spotted a man who he knew had active warrants through the Manchester Police Department.

Officer Buckley called out to the man, Nicholas Acevedo, 28, identified himself to Acevedo as a police officer, and told him he had a warrant for his arrest. Acevedo looked back, but kept walking, according to police. This eventually turned into a foot pursuit with both Acevedo and Officer Buckley running.

According to a police narrative, Officer Buckley was eventually able to grab Acevedo’s arm, but Acevedo kept pulling away. Finally, the officer was able to safely transition Acevedo onto the ground. As the officer tried to handcuff him, two men who had seen this unfolding came to his aid. They were able to hold Acevedo’s arms while the officer put the handcuffs on Acevedo.

During a search, officers allegedly found methamphetamine on Acevedo and charged him with possession of a controlled drug and resisting arrest, as well as for the four outstanding domestic-related warrants.

Acevedo was scheduled to be arraigned in Hillsborough Superior Court – North May 3, 2019.
