MANCHESTER, NH – Child and Family Services of NH, the private nonprofit, presented Representative Mary Stuart Gile with the Jack Lightfoot Voice for Children Award at the recent CFS Celebration event at the Manchester Country Club.  The award is an honor bestowed yearly to a New Hampshire citizen who has made a positive difference in the lives of children and families.  

Rep. Gile is a 10th-term state representative from Merrimack District 27, currently serving as Ranking Democrat in the NH House of Representatives Committee on Education.  She has served as chair of the Children and Family Law Committee and House Education Committee, and is current chair of the Legislative Task Force on Work and Family.  She was also a co-founder of the Legislative Caucus for Young Children.

In her legislative capacity, Rep. Gile has sponsored and co-sponsored many bills related to child protection, early learning, family support, the environment, human trafficking, juvenile and adult criminal justice, health, and education.

Beyond her legislative work, Rep. Gile has served on many boards, including Child and Family Services of NH, Crotched Mountain Foundation, and NH Association of Mental Health. She also was a founder of The Children’s Place and Parent Education Center, and founding member of the Concord Children’s Initiative, Inc.

Rep. Gile was presented the 2017 Voice for Children award by Child and Family Services’ trustee and member of the New Hampshire Children’s Lobby, Marilyn Mahoney.
