Tribe Society is coming to Gilford Aug. 14, opening for the Goo Goo Dolls at the Meadowbrook, and though it is far out in the calendar, it will be a rockin’ time for this New England band.

Tribe society, formerly known as Gentlemen Hall, won “Best Boston Band” in 2012 and that followed with some commercial success, with songs like “Sail Into the Sun,” used on a Target commercial three years ago. What has already been an exciting start to their success just four years ago, Tribe Society are now ready to continue to put themselves on the indie music map.

In 2015 they decided to change their pace and sound, including changing their name to Tribe Society.

Underrated is one of many words that come to mind when listening to the band Tribe Society, an alternative rock  band with a reinvented sound. The band’s latest album, “Lucid Dreams,” released June 22, 2015, packs a punch. When talking to lead singer Gavin Merlot a few days ago, I asked if Tribe Society is all that different from Gentlemen Hall.

“Sonically not really,” Merlot said. “This one is more rock, with a different era of production.”

Tribe Society’s band consists of Gavin Merlot (vocalist and lead guitarist), Rory Given (bass guitarist), Brad Alderman, keyboard synthesizers, Phil Boucher, on the drums and Seth Hachen on the flute, piccolo and synthesizers.

The album is deep and substantial, creative and inspiring, and has an underlying message of spiritually. Songs like “Kings,” “Outlaws,” and “Ego,” emit a nuanced feeling of being done emotionally, while at the same time, rising up.

“The songs that are off this album crack the code within,” Merlot said. “All the songs give off the same theme throughout the entire album, and the sound grows and changes consistently.”

The band has a nice platform to start out with, and it is exciting to see it all come to fruition. I am definitely inspired to hear more from this exciting band, and you should to. Remember to mark your musical calendar and see them live at the bank of NH Pavilion at Meadowbrook this summer.
