In a trade heavy selection process in recent memory, the Boston Celtics maneuvered positions to land four prospects in the 2019 NBA Draft. General Manager Danny Ainge rolled the dice on two first round picks when he started out with three (20th selection went to the Philadelphia 76ers) and two second round picks, one drafted by the Sixers that will convey to Boston.

Here is a rundown of the latest Celtics players:

14th overall- Romeo Langford G Indiana U.- A 6’6 wing combo guard, Langford had a up and down year in college, despite having a generational high school career in his home state of Indiana. His potential is enormous for a NBA prospect that checks the box as a wing who thrives on rebounding and handling possessions carefully. Carrying over to the Celtics, Langford provides another body on the outside to help play with fellow wings Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. Coach Brad Stevens does in fact have Hoosier roots, understood the importance of playing in an environment like Indiana and helped pull the trigger on getting Langford to TD Garden.

22nd overall- Grant Williams PF Tennessee- Unlike his counterpart Admiral Schofield, Williams landed in the 1st round and with a team that understands versatility. At 6’7, Williams is undersized at the 4 position but at 240 pounds, undeniably he has the intangibles to go against players 5-6 inches taller, just like he did in the SEC Conference for the past three seasons. A stretch big that can shoot from the elbow, arc, inside (pretty much everywhere), he is another piece to how Boston will help utilize all parts of the game, specifically rebounding and efficiency.

33rd overall- Carson Edwards PG Purdue- Through an earlier trade that allowed Philadelphia to get fellow guard Matisse Thybulle, this selection was for Philly, but conveyed to Boston as part of the same deal. With Celtics PG Terry Rozier’s future in question, Boston undoubtedly gets a legit scorer in all phases with the junior Edwards. Three 40 point performances last season and a favorite in the NCAA Tournament media, the 6’1 guard electrified the meaning of hooping. An instant jolt of scoring for Boston, Edwards could find his way of getting very very good minutes in this Celtics rotation, possibly the starting job. Kyrie Irving is inevitably out of the picture, Boston scores big on the former Boilmaker in the top of the 2nd round. He could be pegged as the future point guard of the 17 time champions.

51st overall- Tremont Waters PG LSU- Undersized but incredibly efficient, Boston is going to love another SEC stud in Waters. Born and raised in Connecticut, it is a homecoming for the 5’11 quick step guard. Adding depth to this roster, he fills the boxes of how the position should be played. Has a knack of hovering around the rim, rare for a guy his built, reminds you of Terry Rozier’s rebounding abilities at 6’1-6’2. Summer League should be his calling to prove to the other teams who passed on him that it was a dire mistake.
