TRENTON, NJ – Apparently the Fisher Cats packed a whole bunch of runs with them on this weekend’s trip to New Jersey, but they didn’t unpack until now.

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats dominated on both sides of the ball on Sunday, easily defeating Trenton, 12-1.

New Hampshire Starting Pitcher Jordan Romano retired 14 consecutive batters to start the game, allowing just one run off three hits and a walk in 5 2/3 innings of work.

Romano, now 11-7 on the year, also struck out six Thunder batters on the way to his first win since July 27.

While Romano kept the hosts at bay, New Hampshire slowly built up its lead, beginning with a Max Pentecost solo shot in the second and three more runs in the fifth. The Fisher Cats built a four-run lead heading into the ninth, and that’s when they truly put the game out of reach, as the first eight batters of the inning reached base safely.

The Fisher Cats ended the ninth with seven more runs, highlighted by a two-run shot by Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

Jon Berti also contributed his fifth Eastern League homer of the year for New Hampshire earlier in the contest, with every New Hampshire hitter except for Santiago Espinal. Along with the three home runs, New Hampshire also got extra base hits from Andrew Guillotte and Craig Biggio, with Biggio adding a triple along with his pair of RBI.

Kirby Snead and Francisco Rios limited Trenton to just one hit following Romano’s departure, with Rios retiring six of the seven batters he faced in the first Fisher Cat appearance since May 17.

Ryan Bollinger was the losing pitcher for Trenton, allowing four runs off seven hits in five innings pitched.

Now 7-5 on the season, Bollinger also struck out seven New Hampshire batters, his second highest total this season.

The Fisher Cats now face Portland for a four-game home-and-home series, beginning on Monday in Maine.

There, the Fisher Cats will send Hector Perez (0-1, 3.00 ERA) against rehabbing Red Sox lefty Eduardo Rodriguez.

New Hampshire returns to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Wednesday, August 22 to play a twi-night doubleheader with the Portland Sea Dogs at 5:35 p.m. The Fisher Cats are closing in on a milestone five million in total attendance. The lucky fan will be rewarded with a spectacular prize package. It will also be Comic Con night and we’re giving away FREE t-shirts to the first 1,000 fans presented by Consolidated Communications.
