Reading Fightin Phils

MANCHESTER, N.H. – One win, one loss, but mostly pitching. So much pitching.

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats split a pair of games against the Reading Fightin’ Phils, beginning with a 2-0 loss followed by a 4-2 victory.

In the first game, both teams combined for just ten hits, with Reading’s runs coming from the four hits they accumulated in the third. Luke Williams and Alec Bohm each drove in an RBI to provide a lead that stuck for the rest of the contest.

Bohm also had another hit while Kevin Smith had two for New Hampshire.

David Parkinson (7-7) pitched six innings in the win for Reading while Joey Murray earned his first Eastern League decision in the loss, pitching five innings.

Addison Russ pitched the seventh for his 16th save in 19 opportunities.

In the second game, New Hampshire took three runs in the first to set the tone for the rest of the contest, with Vinny Capra driving home two on a double followed by Brock Lundquist’s RBI single to left.

Alberto Mineo’s double brought in another run for the Fisher Cats in the third, answering Mickey Moniack’s one-run homer for Reading earlier in the inning.

Darrick Hall scored the game’s other run, coming home on a ground ball out in the fourth.

Vinny Nittoli got the win for his relief in the fifth and sixth. Adonis Medina was the lower, falling to 6-5 on the year.

The Fisher Cats and Fightin Phils conclude the season series on Sunday at 1:35 p.m.
