Catherine Ryfa, 58: Creative spark, loved nature, cherished friendships, family

Catherine A. (Brem) Ryfa, 58, of Siler City, NC, formerly of Candia, died at home on Monday February 13, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.

Cathy was born in Trenton, NJ, on November 2, 1958, the daughter of Stephen J. and Jean A. (Yeager) Brem. She worked for many years as a payroll analyst at Fidelity Investments in Merrimack and then Raleigh, NC, where she made many long lasting friends. Cathy enjoyed traveling with her husband, gardening, crafts, and watching her backyard wildlife. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Cathy touched the lives of everyone she met.

Family members include her loving husband, Carl Ryfa of NC; her mother Jean Brem of Center Harbor; her son, Michael D. White of Woonsocket, RI; a step daughter, Emily L. Ryfa, of NC; two sisters, Linda M. Tenda and her husband Tom of Hollis, and Paula J. Couturier and her husband David of Manchester; five grandchildren, Gwen, Jeremy, Anna, Jemma, and Victoria; a niece Lori, her mother-in-law, Victoria Ryfa of Franklin; and her two beloved dogs, Kaiser and Sheba.

Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester on Tuesday Feb. 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with a funeral service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 7:30 p.m. Burial will take place at Bedford Center Cemetery in the spring.
