Reducing and eliminating funding for libraries undermines the very fabric of our communities and our democracy, preventing the sharing of ideas, creativity, and involvement of community members. Union Leader endorsement a refreshing break from partisan politics

Last year I took issue with Publisher Joseph McQuaid’s chummy relationship with Donald Trump in the months leading up to the paper’s NH Primary endorsement of Chris Christie over Trump. My problem with McQuaid’s indictment of Trump was that it was too little, far too late from the newspaper of record here in New Hampshire. Today, he gets an ‘attaboy’ from me for his endorsement of Libertarian Gary Johnson for president. READ MORE

McQuaid’s mea culpa

McQuaid should feel embarrassed. Not only did he endorse a dishonest candidate, but that dishonest candidate has now fully embraced the guy who went out of his way to make mincemeat of McQuaid in a bitter and very public tit-for-tat battle of the egos. And in all of this, The Union Leader failed to do the one thing it’s supposed to do: Inform readers. READ MORE
