Drought conditions have undoubtedly been impacting our rivers and streams and to some extent our lakes here in the Granite State. We’ve had a few fish kills reported in some of the shallower ponds and some blue-green algae bloom too. Stick to fishing the “twilight hours” and take a siesta during the heat of the day! READ MORE


Moose hunt permit auction deadline is Aug. 5

The auction is the Foundation’s primary fundraiser to support education, conservation, wildlife, fisheries and law enforcement programs of the NH Fish and Game Department. This is the eighth year for the auction, which has raised $249,172 to date, from which the Foundation has awarded grants to NH Fish and Game in support of its mission to conserve New Hampshire’s wild places and wild things so that the children of today and the next generation can respect, appreciate and enjoy the New Hampshire outdoors. The recent cold snap appears to be over and warmer temperatures and calm winds are in the forecast for the next week or so. Bass spawning is winding down throughout the state and the catch-and-release season has ended as of June 15. Live bait can again be used to catch bass. The bass bag limit remains at two fish through the end of June. We hear the “alderfly” hatch is on up on the Androscoggin River. The trout can go crazy when the emergence of this caddisfly gets going. Give it a try! READ MORE
