Richard White, 45, (no relation to Alan White) also a customer was in the vicinity of Healy, heard her screams and saw White running. White was able to the grab the alleged purse-snatcher by the arm, pin him to the ground and detain him until police arrived.
Detectives Robert Bellenoit, Michael Lavallee and Michael Bergeron collectively worked on the robbery investigation to see if there was a connection and discovered that Grullon, the alleged robber, had frequented TN Gas at least three more times after the Nov. 13 robbery.
While the fire was being attacked, other firefighters were searching for occupants in the building for residents and pets, and discovered three members of a family trapped in a ground level unit. They were able to escape the fire with assistance of firefighters, through a window, as the heavy smoke and heat in the hallway made it impossible to get out of the building through the door. Chris Goodnow said detectives have not yet determined if Grullon is connected in any way to a series of unsolved convenience store robberies in November, including a Nov. 13 robbery at TN Gas. Brown was charged with receiving stolen property and theft by unauthorized taking (result of separate incidents occurring on December 12 and December 13, both at Elliot properties) and Badger was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled drug.
