Newly confirmed Manchester Police Chief Carlo Capano.

MANCHESTER, NHCarlo Capano was confirmed as the city’s new Chief of Police by a unanimous vote by the Board of Aldermen during Tuesday night’s meeting.

“We’ll do great things, as we have been doing,” Capano said, directing those comments to several police officers who gathered in the rear of the Aldermanic chambers.

Capano will officially start July 1, 2018 when Chief Willard retires, effective June 30. Willard announced his intention to take an appointment as United States Marshal for the District of New Hampshire, a nomination made in April by President Trump.

Capano has served with the Manchester Police Department since 1996 and as Assistant Chief since 2015. During his time in the Manchester Police Department, he has received numerous awards, simultaneously serving as a leader within Manchester’s SWAT Team and as captain of the department’s administrative division prior to becoming Assistant Chief.
