Candia Road house fire under investigation as suspicious

MANCHESTER, NH — Fire crews reported to a report of fire at an abandoned home at 504 Candia Road just after 2 a.m. 

Several 911 calls came in reporting the fire. Engine 8 from East Industrial Park Drive arrived two minutes after notification to the cape-style home, which was fully involved in flames. Initial efforts were directed at keeping the fire to the building of origin. This effort was successful. As additional crews arrived a defensive operation took place and the fire was knocked down in approximately 40 minutes.

District Chief Michael Gamache said the building has been vacant for many years and had no active utilities to it. 

Damage is estimated at $150,000.

Extent of Damages: $150,000. The building owner is listed as Evelyn Bernier.

The fire is currently under investigation by the MFD Fire Marshall’s Office in conjunction with the Manchester Police. At this time the cause of the fire is listed as suspicious/under investigation.
