MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Manchester Monarchs finished a perfect final weekend of January with a 5-2 win over the Worcester Railers on Sunday.

Worcester struck first with a weakside tap-in by forward Nick Sorkin 3:09 into the contest, but the visitors’ lead did not last long.

It took just under two minutes for Joe Sullivan’s fast break wrister to knot things up, and another smooth wrister from Tony Cameranesi 8:06 into the period swung the lead over to Manchester’s side.

David Kolomatis’ blue line wrister early in the second period grew Manchester’s lead and a quick Cameranesi slapshot from the left faceoff circle grew that lead even further, chasing Worcester goaltender Mitch Gillam from the contest.

Sam Kurker added another goal before the second intermission to give Manchester a four goal lead, with Tyler Barnes bringing the deficit back down to three just over five minutes into the third period.

Spencer Watson ended with a pair of assists following his Saturday hat trick, with Matt Doherty also adding a pair of assists.0

With the win, Manchester (22-18-1-1) rise to third place in the ECHL North Division. They face second-face Adirondack Thunder at home on Wednesday, Jan. 30 (7 p.m.)
