MANCHESTER, NHSouthern NH Planning Commission has put out the call for those interested in developing a comprehensive transportation system that will include alternative routes for pedestrian, bicycles, city transit and rail.

The project area is bounded by Granite Street to the north, Queen City Avenue to the south, Second Street to the West, and Elm Street to the East.

The process will be informed by a series of citywide strategic plans cultivated over the past dozen years from entities including the Chamber, Intown Manchester and most recently, Manchester Connects. [Those plans are linked in the document below.]

Southern NH Planning Commission project manager James Vayo says a plan like this will enhance life for city dwellers, no matter how they get around.

“I am excited to be working on this Transit Oriented Development plan in Manchester. There seem to be several opportunities for growth and development going on in the city. Having the ability to facilitate planning for growth with transit and walkablity as a foundation for new development will create new discussions about the lifestyle options available to city residents,” Vayo said. “I look forward to seeing the statements of qualifications from qualified planning and engineering firms in the coming weeks.”

All statements of qualifications must be received by SNHPC no later than 4:30 p.m. on
February 22, 2019. Invitations for interviews to selected “short listed” firms by should be issued by Feb.
