MERRIMACK, NH – New Hampshire State Police and Merrimack Fire responded to a crash on the Everett Turnpike at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday involving a box truck crash in the southbound lane, at mile marker 16.

According to State Police,  Claudio Barros, 31, of Brockton Mass., was driving south on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in a 2014 Freightliner box truck when he swerved to miss an animal in the roadway. Barros lost control of the vehicle and struck the center median barrier, rolling the box truck over in the middle of the turnpike.

Emergency responders and the New Hampshire DOT worked diligently to clean-up the crash scene, including diesel fuel that spilled on the roadway, but traffic during the morning rush was delayed for several hours in this area as the high-speed lanes in both directions were closed.

Barros suffered minor injuries and was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital in Nashua for treatment. Anyone with further information related to this crash is asked to contact Trooper Wood at 603-666-3333.
